Udaan

An offshoot of Alcheringa 2012, in association with the NGO Pratham, Udaan intends to help and reach out to few of the many orphanages in India. Alcheringa will visit underprivileged children in every part of India and show them how life isn't empty of hope. During the vacations of December, IIT Guwahati students would reach out to various under-privileged children (orphanges,villages,slum etc.) in their locality in more than 25 centres all over India and spare a weekend to give flights to their hopes with the help of various documentaries,presentations,games and motivation. This would be followed by an essay writing on 'I and India 2020' for the elder kids and video shoot with the little ones. All these essays would be used as a survey to know mindset of these kids with the particular guidance and help of the NGO - 'PRATHAM' . Top 3 essays would fetch a prize and also print in national media. IIT-G students might individually mentor the organisation they reachout even after December and help those kids as much as possible.
